Diesel Fuel Treatment Calculator: Bottles to 55-Gallon Drums
Measure treatment for a pickup fill, a 65 to 200-gallon transfer tank, a farm delivery or an entire winter. Select your exact product and package formulation, then use the measured dose and package plan to decide what to buy.
Calculate your fuel treatment dose
Choose the product and package chart first. All fuel amounts are per vehicle or tank; the fleet count multiplies the result.

Diesel Recovery: five emergency steps
A new fuel filter restores full power faster. Follow the current bulletin and the vehicle’s filter-service instructions.
Common fuel volumes, measured from the official charts
These examples use the published maintenance rates, checked October 16, 2026. Cold Flow and 4-IN-1 have different concentrations. The calculator converts litres to US gallons before applying the same chart.
| Fuel | Cold Flow (1 fl oz / 5 gal) | 4-IN-1 (2 fl oz / 5 gal) |
|---|---|---|
| 20 US gal | 4 fl oz | 8 fl oz |
| 40 US gal | 8 fl oz | 16 fl oz |
| 100 US gal | 20 fl oz | 40 fl oz |
| 300 US gal | 60 fl oz | 120 fl oz |
| 500 US gal | 100 fl oz | 200 fl oz |
| 1,000 US gal | 200 fl oz | 400 fl oz |

A delivery dose follows the fuel being added
Enter tank capacity, current level and delivery size to check available room. The calculated dose covers the delivery. If the fuel already in the tank has not been treated, calculate that volume separately using the same product chart. Put treatment in before or during delivery so incoming fuel mixes it. A season plan totals inventory; distribute that inventory across the individual fills.
Keep water and filters in your winter tank routine
Inspect the bulk tank and maintain its water-control and filtration equipment according to the tank, supplier and equipment instructions. A treatment calculation cannot identify a blocked filter or distinguish wax from water-related trouble. Review fuel condition with your supplier before winter deliveries, keep the appropriate filters available and label the tank with the product, dose, fuel volume and treatment date.
Bottles, pails and drums follow the selected product
Cold Flow is listed in 16 fl oz bottles and 5-gallon pails. Recovery uses 30 fl oz bottles. Other products offer the sizes shown by the calculator, including drums where published. A larger container can reduce handling while leaving more inventory. The least-leftover plan minimizes unused volume first, then physical containers; the alternative minimizes containers first. Prices and current availability are handled by AMSOIL.
Read the product chart before changing bottles
The two injector-cleaner products have separate 8 fl oz treatment charts. Selecting that formulation limits the package plan to the corresponding 8 fl oz bottles. Cetane and injector-cleaning treatments do not replace cold-flow prevention. Recovery has an emergency fuel-volume chart, with no published preventive bulk or season rate.

Questions about measuring diesel treatment
How much anti-gel for a 500-gallon tank?
For 500 US gallons of fuel, the published maintenance rates calculate to 100 fl oz of Diesel Cold Flow or 200 fl oz of Diesel 4-IN-1. For a delivery, calculate the incoming fuel volume; account separately for any existing untreated fuel.
Can I add too much diesel treatment?
Measure the dose for the selected product, package formulation and treatment level. Follow the current label; this calculator does not recommend extra-strength doses or combining overlapping products.
Does treatment work if the fuel is already cold?
Cold Flow and 4-IN-1 should be added while fuel is above its cloud point. For already-gelled fuel, consult Diesel Recovery emergency directions and identify the cause of the restriction.
Why does the 8 oz injector-cleaner bottle give a different answer?
Injector Clean and Injector Clean + Cetane Boost each publish a separate 8 fl oz chart: one bottle treats up to 20 US gallons for maintenance. Their 16 fl oz and larger packages use 1 fl oz per 5 US gallons for maintenance. Select the package formulation before calculating.
Can I use the calculator in Canada?
Choose litres for fuel inputs and doses in millilitres and litres. Conversions use US gallons, not Imperial gallons. Only your last unit choice is stored locally when your browser allows it.
